Es en el proceso de rodaje y puesta en escena que llega el momento de maniobrar la historia. Por eso, aun si los temas abordados por distintos directores son similares, las diferencias pueden ser abismales. En ambos directores, los personajes son gentes sencillas que viven un gran acontecimiento. As\u00ed, el coreano Kim-Ki-Duk entremezcla la modernidad con la tradici\u00f3n, pero el sost\u00e9n de sus historias son los conflictos autodestructivos de los personajes que, por su querer, llevan vidas marginales. Blake Edwards y Billy Wilder le buscaban el lado c\u00f3mico a los problemas, y por eso, casi siempre, sus filmes son atractivos divertimentos \u2014aun <em>Sunset Boulevard<\/em>, de este \u00faltimo: un burlesco, ir\u00f3nico y cruel retrato de Hollywood\u2014.
